Agate Druzy Heart Carving — Polished Collector Specimen Natural Druzy Pocket Olive-Brown Banding Display Crystal
Agate Druzy Heart Carving — Polished Collector Specimen Natural Druzy Pocket Olive-Brown Banding Display Crystal
This heart-shaped agate carving is cut and polished from banded druzy agate, most likely sourced from Brazil or Uruguay — two of the world's foremost agate-producing regions. The exterior carries tight concentric bands of olive-brown, golden-yellow, gray, and cream, ground smooth to a vitreous polish that lets the layering read clearly under any light.
At the center, natural druzy vugs have been preserved rather than polished away, exposing a cluster of smoky gray microcrystalline quartz crystals. That contrast — high-polish banding on the outside, raw crystalline interior on the inside — is what makes this form of carving worthwhile to collectors. The lapidary work is clean, the heart profile is symmetrical, and there is no visible damage.
Agate is a cryptocrystalline variety of quartz (trigonal crystal system) formed in volcanic cavities over millions of years. Concentric banding develops as silica-rich groundwater deposits successive layers inside the cavity wall. Druzy pockets form where open space remained at the end of that process, allowing tiny crystals to grow freely inward.
